Last Saturday CFAT (Centre for Art Tapes) hosted "a celebration of the weird and wonderful possibility at the intersection of art and games" and I got to speak about AMMG there!
What? Me speaking in public?! YEAH.
It was a ton of fun. Putting this talk together re-engaged me with this project and prompted some serious reflection on what I want to be doing, and presenting the talk meant spending a beautiful day in Halifax meeting some lovely new people. The game dev scene in Nova Scotia is really welcoming, and I'm looking forward to participating in it more.
My talk is also watchable online! 🫨 I've embedded it at the end of this post so you can watch it here, experience the magic for yourself if you want. This was recorded by Adam Hartling, an archivist in the community who also chronicles and curates the Halifax Game Collective Archive, which you should check out if you're local and/or love games.
Events like this one make me feel hope about the games industry and human creativity despite the economic/political state of the world. Also the website for C4AG is very cute, and I hope that this is the first of many more such conferences. There is also an exhibition of games being showcased at this event that is on until October 9th 2026, definitely worth checking out if you're local.
I didn't say everything I wanted to in my talk, I'll probably expand on that a little bit in the near future but I did publish a draft that I wrote at the end of August that captures a bit of how I was feeling before a busy September, and you can read it here if you're curious: slow and steady.
